Birth of the Blue collects four studio sides recorded by Miles Davis with John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley, Bill Evans, Paul Chambers, and Jimmy Cobb at Columbia’s 30th Street Studio on May 26, 1958—the same room that hosted Kind of Blue the following year. Newly mixed from the original three-track tapes and mastered for audiophile playback, this stand-alone LP finally lets these performances speak as a complete set.
Personnel: Miles Davis (trumpet); John Coltrane (tenor saxophone); Cannonball Adderley (alto saxophone); Bill Evans (piano); Paul Chambers (bass); Jimmy Cobb (drums).

Birth of the Blue is in non-stop rotation at our house. Spectacular pressing...appropriate for such superb music. This is a must-have for any Miles fan, jazz fan or music fan.

The record sounds great. The jacket came with a split seam which is disappointing, but it looks nice. I had to deduct a star for my jacket defect. If you like Kind of Blue, you’ll like this.
